The Care and Keeping of Challenging Children

If you parent or care for a challenging child, nobody has to tell you how trying, frustrating and overwhelming it can be for you. You're in the thick of it and face it, sometimes, on a daily basis. And the thing we may not stop to consider is that the children who trigger all of this in us are feeling exactly the same way

The Price of Punishment

Punishment seems like a solid, appropriate, socially-acceptable and expected way to respond, but it keeps us stuck in the same pattern...playing out this process over and over again. And that comes at a cost to everyone's peace of mind.

Responding to rude, sassy, intense behaviors with punishment is what we've been taught, how it was handled while we were growing up and how we think we need to respond to raise ethical, high-functioning and contributing members of society.

But what if we had it all wrong?

Our Kids Need Our Help

Our kids can't change this on their own. They need our help. They need us to find a way to stop the cycle that perpetuates "misbehavior-punishment" chain reaction.

They need helpful, brain-changing responses from us (yelling doesn't cut it - not at all), alongside solid skill-building for real behavior change that lasts.

We need to consider if want immediate compliance (that counts on us to keep responding out of anger, frustration and overwhelm...with a punitive stance...over and over and over again)...or if we'd rather invest a little time on the front-end by doing something different...so our kids can change their behavior for the long haul.

We Know What Works - Science Supports It!

There's no more guesswork needed when it comes to the BEST way to help kids calm down, think more clearly and make better choices. Neuroscience leads the way with a brain-based approach to parenting that makes sense and produces results quicker than any punishment every could!

It's easier on our kids and us! Promise!

{Warning: This does not mean change happens overnight. That will NEVER be the case. It is a process that requires our steadfast adherence to an approach that delivers results.}
